Abstract
The distribution range of Pinguicula chilensis is revised and it is shown that the type specimen represents P. antarctica and not the high Andean taxon erroneously treated under the name P. chilensis by most recent authors. The latter is therefore named as a new species, P. australandina, with a different type. Populations from the Cordillera de Nahuelbuta, Chile, formerly likewise included in P. chilensis, are described and illustrated as a new distinct species and key differences to the most closely related species P. antarctica and P. australandina are shown.
Keywords: new species; Pinguicula antarctica, australandina, chilensis, nahuelbutensis
